We can learn from Lot and his wife to have Hachnasas Orchim, to host guests and treat them nicely.
In Parshas Vayeira we learn about Lot and his wife hosting the Malachim that came to warn them that Sodom would be destroyed. The Midrash says that Lot’s wife went around to her neighbors asking for salt for her guests.
This week we will be making a welcome sign for guests, using salt, glue & watercolor paint.

Imagine
Imagine traveling through a big and dense forest. You are hungry and tired and have no more energy to travel.
Suddenly you see a house in the clearing ahead of you. It is a Jewish house and the owner opens the door and happily welcomes you to his house. You are served a delicious nourishing meal and then you are offered to stay over for the night.
It must feel very good to be able to rest properly! How thankful you are to your hosts for treating you so nicely even though they don’t even know you!
Delving Deeper
What’s the best way to treat your guests? There are so many ways we can make our guests feel comfortable. When we offer them food, we can offer different options and make sure that the food is delicious and satisfying. When our guests stay overnight, we can make sure that the room that they will be staying in is warm and welcoming. Maybe we can leave a nice note or some sort of welcome packet on their bed to make them feel special. When our guests come into our house, we can greet them with a warm smile and show them how happy we are to have them. When they are leaving, we can escort them out and tell them how much we enjoyed their company.
