Imagine…

You had a candy collection or a collection of jewelry or Torah cards. You keep your collection in a safe place inside of a special box. Once in a while you take out the collection and carefully count how many candies, pieces of jewelry, or cards are in your collection. Since they are precious to you, you want to keep track of them.

Delving Deeper

We learn from this that things that are counted have a special status. The Jewish people are counted numerous times throughout the Torah, including in this week’s Parsha, which shows us how important and special we are in the eyes of Hashem. Each one of us is a vital part of Am Yisrael and each time Hashem counts us, He is showing us how cherished and loved we are to Him.

Point to Ponder

How can you remind yourself of how precious you are to Hashem?
